{10 Steps to Happiness} Step 1: FUN! #beGrandad

As promised last week, today’s newsletter is the first of a ten week series inspiring you to create happiness in your day-to-day life.

The 10 tips I am going to share with you over the coming weeks were passed down to me by my 100yr old Grandad.

These keys to success are super simple.

This stuff ‘aint rocket science and yet we forget to do the most simple of things that can ensure we are living a life we love.

So, I thought that if I gave you a simple tool each week, you could slowly start to create new habits, in the simplest of ways.

One tip a week for you to implement sounds easy, right?

So, are you on board?

Are you ready to receive Grandad’s first top tip for guaranteeing your happiness?

Have something fun to look forward to

You know when an elderly person dies, often their partner will die shortly afterwards? In their gut they feel they have nothing left to live for – which is understandable and yet so sad.

My Grandad was 90 when Grandma passed away from dementia. He nursed her for a long time before taking on the help of a care home. It was a gruelling few years for him and he stuck by her because she was his life. They were true Twin Flames. Absolute peas in a pod. They made each-other very happy.

When Grandma died, Grandad grieved heavily for quite some time but he made up his mind to carry on.

He made the decision to plan things that he loved to do so that he had something to look forward to.

He set the goal to live to 100 and he intended to live it out doing things that made him happy. He had always planned fun into his life, so why stop now?

He planned trips around Australia – in his nineties!!!

He would research the trips for weeks and would often be found surrounded by travel agency brochures.

He would research the type of camera he desired until he felt certain he had found one that was ‘just perfect’ for the job.

He would spend ages planning out his luggage. He’d arrange specific shopping trips to go and buy those items.

He indulged in the planning.

He enjoyed the process.

Every single day he had something to look forward to – whether it was the shopping expeditions leading up to the trip or the thought of developing all those lovely pictures when he returned home.

Without fun in our lives, life is dull and grey

Of-course spontaneous, daily joy and fun is a must and that light, joyful attitude is more easily cultivated when you have things in the calendar to look forward to.

I have just booked a trip with a friend to Morocco later this month. On booking that, I instantly felt lifted because I am looking forward to it.

With my vibration high, incorporating fun into my day-to-day life feels easier.

I’ve been motivated a lot lately to have more fun and in the last week bike riding, horse riding and playing with my son have been my focus.

It may sound strange, but having fun doesn’t actually come easily to me. I am re-parenting my rather worried and overly responsible inner child. I’m learning to have fun for fun’s sake! Needless to say, I am loving the chance to be a kid all over again.

I Dare You

This week, I dare you to schedule fun into your calendar!

What do you love to do? Put it in the diary!

Who would you like to spend time with? Put it in the diary!

You get the idea.

I’m doing the same and I would love for you to join me in creating new habits that will ensure a happy, abundant, joyful life.

Here’s to you having more fun and feeling happier.

Next week, we will explore the importance of sleep and rest – stay tuned!

Big Love

SELF-LOVE IN ACTION

Self-Love is all about giving yourself permission to spend time with the people you love most, so, my phone and email has been OFF while I’ve been playing with my son who is on Easter school holidays. A favourite of ours is fish ‘n chips on the beach!!
