{10 Steps to Happiness} Step 7 : EXERCISE GENTLY & MOVE DAILY! #beGrandad

In this 7th edition of the #beGrandad 10 top tips on how to achieve happiness, we are talking about the importance of looking after your body.

My wise old Grandad believed it was super important to move your body every single day and engage in regular light exercise.

Until the age of 99, he would start every single day with stretches and would be sure to go for a walk. He refused a cleaner and meals-on-wheels because he felt that meant he had less reason to get up out of his chair! So, he cooked his own meals right up until 99 too!

What a legend!

His commitment to movement was inspiring and it worked. There is no way he would have lead such a fulfilled life without it.

SelfLove means enjoying your body

Getting honest….. ahem!

OK, I am going to be totally honest here.

I have never been much good at incorporating regular exercise into my schedule. And, moving every day (apart from running up and down the stairs at home) doesn’t feature much either.

Since embarking on my self-love journey, I have included MUCH more exercise and movement than ever before and I am proud to say I do use the gym a few times a month. I have a leisurely swim and do a gentle yoga class every now and then and I love to cycle with my son.

This is all BRAND NEW BEHAVIOUR for me. And, I am still guilty of sitting behind my laptop for far too long far too regularly.

Just keeping it real!

I, like you, am still a work in progress when it comes to Self-Love!! The point is, I encourage you to do something! To make at least one tiny shift in your habits and choose something you can do to love your body through movement.

I used to do NOTHING! Now, I do something. And, the more I do it, the more I desire to respect my body because it actually makes me feel good.

SelfLove means giving yourself permission to play

What will you commit to this week?

I encourage you to choose a new activity this week that involves moving that precious body of yours.

Remember, your body is the home of your Spirit. It is special, unique and super important. Moving it and using it is what it was designed for and the endorphins released MAKE YOU HAPPY!

Make your movement fun. Involve the kids and play outside if that helps you take action – they will love you for it!

Moving doesn’t have to be a chore and you will be far more likely to do something regularly if you enjoy it! (Which is why I don’t run. Ever. Period!)

Here’s to you loving your body and moving it regularly in a way that is pure joy for you!

Big love,
Katie xx
