In this 6th edition of the #beGrandad top tips on how to achieve happiness, we are talking about the importance of using your brain!
I am sending you this newsletter from Paris where I am participating in a 4 day mastermind with my coach, Gina DeVee. I am using my brain, big time!
My wise old Grandad would often say how important it was to keep working the muscle of the brain. He was committed to learning and trained to be an educational officer at Sydney Taronga Zoo where he volunteered for a decade during his retirement. There wasn’t much he didn’t know about the animal kingdom!
My grandma was rarely without a Crossword or novel in her hands. They certainly seemed mentally stimulated and happier as a result. Much better than the numbing effect of the screen addiction so many of us suffer these days!
Love Your Mind!
As a Self-Love Mentor, I would like to encourage you to be mindful of what you allow your mind to absorb.
Your beautiful mind requires stimulation just as much as relaxation so it’s important to get conscious about what you let into your head and in what quantities.
Study and learning is a great way to stimulate your mind. You can even exercise it with games like Crossword or Sudoku.
Discover what works for you in terms of relaxing your mind. Meditation, conscious breathing, walking and gentle exercise allows the mind to be calm. Just choosing to close your eyes or look out the window can also relax your mind. Or you could experiment with alternative healing arts such as Aromatherapy and colour therapy for mind relaxation (and stimulation).
Taking responsibility for what you allow into your mind is key.
You know how sometimes when you are watching a movie or TV show you get so engrossed into it that you lose yourself and almost become part of the drama unfolding on the screen? Well, did you know that your mind doesn’t know the difference between watching a TV show and accepting the content of that show as your reality? This is especially applicable to small children. Freaky, huh!
Choose to fill your beautiful mind with things that are kind, supportive and nurturing.
Stop self abandoning and scaring yourself!
Be there for you.
Create a mindful practice!
I encourage you to create a practice that supports your beautiful mind.
As a woman committed to a lifestyle of personal development, what will you commit to this week?
Will you stimulate your mind by reading a book that will deepen your self-knowing?
Perhaps you will join a meditation class?
Maybe you will join me in turning off all devices after 8pm and not turn them back on again until after a morning journalling / meditation practice!?
Choose what works for you and love yourself enough to gift your mind with a balance of stimulation and relaxation. You deserve nothing less.
Remember, you are a creator and you get to choose happiness!
Big love,
Katie xx
