BEING MUM

Today I really enjoyed being Mum. I had a mental day, very busy, juggling lots of things as usual, but there were a few very special moments with Finn that made me stop, take a breath and realise how lucky I am to be his mum. I also had a deeper understanding what it was like for my Mum to be a Mum to me. I realised at a deeper level just how ‘human’ she was. You know, not just a ‘Mum’ but a ‘Person’ – juggling life, work and finding balance between her needs and those of her children.  I have always known that but I guess the penny dropped a little further today. It was a special moment and I think I grew up just a little bit more….

Finn is learning all about healthy eating at school and today parents were invited to a special lunch. The children wrote menus, helped prepare the food and acted as waiters and waitresses. It was magical. Finn was so proud to have me there as his guest and I felt so lucky to be able to do it. We came home from school this-afternoon, made hot drinks and read a chapter of ‘The Wishing Chair’ together before starting to pack for our Disneyland trip. I have been madly finishing off all sorts of jobs and work since he went to bed and am rather frazzled around the edges but the special moments with Finn today have been worth it.

Once again I am so grateful that I have designed a life that allows me to be there for my son for important events or just a snuggle on the couch after school. It is important for us both. I am blessed to have him.

Being in the moment with Finn and spending quality time with him is a recurring theme on my Bag List. Another big tick today. What a pleasure.
