{Love Note} Self-Love Means Love for Many

SELF-LOVE MEANS LOVE FOR MANY

Note to self…

A common misconception is that self-love is egocentric, narcissistic and selfish.

It’s time to blow that right out of the water.

You cannot help others unless you help yourself first.

Let’s take a look at a favourite analogy-

The safety demonstration on an aeroplane instructs you to put the oxygen mask on yourself before helping your children.

I know that feels counterintuitive. As a parent, my maternal instinct is to jump to the aid of my son – especially if the situation is potentially life threatening!

If I am not breathing though, I am of no use to him.

The same is true in day-to-day life.

To be of service to others, we need to be full up so that we have something to give.

A car will not run without fuel, right?

Same for us. How can I give unconditional love if I am not filled with love to give?

How can I help someone financially if I haven’t created my own financial support?

How can I support someone emotionally if I am emotionally depleted and strung out?

Do you see where I am going with this?

Self-Love allows you to be of more loving service to the people you love most and beyond.

If we all started with loving ourselves first, the world would be a profoundly more loving place.

I wonder if you agree?

Love,

Katie xx
