TOXIC NASTINESS

It has been an interesting day at The Vitality Show today and thanks to some lovely friends coming along and giving me a break from my stand, I was able to listen to a couple of interesting talks. My friend, Henrietta Norton, spoke about the environmental toxins which affect women. Janey Lee Grace spoke about the secrets to flawless skin. Both talks had one thing in common – the accumulative affect which toxins have on our body. Rather alarming and very interesting! I have recently started to eat more fresh organic food and use organic products on my skin but there is so much more I could be doing and I am glad to have been alerted to those things. Thing is, if I am honest, none of it was particularly new information. I realised that I have actually been ignoring what I know in my gut to be true, for convenience sake. I have not prioritised my health and wellbeing in a few areas of my life.  Not very daring and mighty, huh!? I must make a choice and start to be an even more conscious consumer, putting a higher value on what I allow my body to be exposed to. It’s time to make a decision. So, a water filter is going to go onto my shower head, I will start filtering all my drinking water, I will invest in harmless washing powders and cleaning products and I will reduce the use of plastic packaging in my life – all to reduce my ingestion (whether it be via mouth, nose or skin) of the nastiness that causes ill health and disease.

Funnily enough, this all ties in with a new affirmation I have started using – ‘I have beautiful clear skin. I deserve to glow’.  My skin has been rather rubbish lately and I have been trying hard to fix it. Reduced booze, cut out caffeine, started eating more organic veg and less red meat, using organic cleansers and make-up. The list is endless. I have learned a few more things today which may help me but something that came out of the talks I listened to was the idea that my thoughts and emotions can also affect my skin. Tell me something I don’t know…..but it was nice to be reminded. You see, toxins aren’t just ingested – they come from the mind too! So, in addition to being more conscious about what I put on and in my body, I will keep up my new affirmation.

No matter how much we know, we sometimes still need to be reminded of the obvious stuff! Choosing to live a conscious life certainly keeps me on my toes but I know the rewards will be worth it. Health, vitality and gorgeous skin here I come……!!
