WHAT MAKES YOUR HEART SING?

What a perfect Sunday. A big tick on the Bag List for very simply spending time doing things that make my heart sing.

Finn & I hung out at home all day. Bliss. Had a properly lazy Sunday morning – he did puzzles while I read a book and then we enjoyed a cooked breakfast (Bit of a weird one though….I experimented with ‘quorn’ bacon, wondering if it might be a less artery clogging option. Not a fan! Back to the real stuff next time…). We then spent the rest of the day in the garden. I was in heaven. I love nothing better than getting into my oldest clothes, pulling on my wellie boots and gardening gloves, ready to get down and dirty. I raked up leaves, weeded and turned over the soil, rescuing worms along the way. I hate it when I accidentally chop them in half with the shovel….! As I turned the soil, my mind wandered. Such a pleasure to just allow my thoughts to travel in and out without paying them any attention. Quite meditative. I love digging my hands into the soil, knowing it’s alive and soon to be full of new life. So grounding. The robins got very excited at all the activity and joined in nervously, no doubt hoping I would massacre another worm. Waste not want not!

We planned where we would plant daisies and sun-flowers. Am still trying to decide how to go about vegetables this year because the rabbits ate all of last years efforts. Will need to construct something to keep them out. As much as I love the bunnies and am perfectly happy to have them keep the grass short, they are not welcome to my radishes and carrots!

The sun was glorious today too. We had a picnic lunch on the lawn and did Finn’s reading homework with tea & chocolate. In my element! I remembered how much I loved eating all our meals outdoors last summer. Am properly bored of being indoors and have been suffering severe cabin fever so am really looking forward to eating alfresco more often. It even makes doing homework more fun. Huge tick!

However you spent your Sunday, I hope it made your heart sing too. x
