{A Month of Self Love} Friday Forgiveness

 

Every Friday this month I have shared a Forgiveness Practice with you. Today is my final Friday message to you as part of this series. I hope you have received a lot from the last few weeks and applied the forgiveness tools I have shared. 

Today I would like to share a final word with you on forgiveness – some little nuggets to remember while you are going through a forgiveness process. 

Let’s dive in.

 

 

NUGGETS OF WISDOM

I have said it several times – forgiveness ‘aint for the faint of heart. You are a courageous self-love warrior to be doing this work and I promise it will pay off!

Some things I invite you to remember when you are going through a process of forgiveness :

1. Trust. When you forgive you don’t have to trust that person (or people) again. You get to choose what feels true for you. Perhaps you choose to slowly rebuild the trust and commit to some honest conversations as a part of that journey but just because you have forgiven them you are not instantly going to trust them (and perhaps never can – and that’s ok). Just because you have forgiven them, it doesn’t mean that you approve of what they did and are suddenly ok with it either.

2. A Gift To Yourself. When you forgive you are releasing YOURSELF from the pain of resentment. You are setting YOURSELF free. It is the ultimate self-love practice because you are giving the gift of freedom to yourself. You are also gifting yourself with spiritual growth because you are choosing to look for the lesson in the situation. You are choosing to ask yourself, “how can I grow from this experience” and that is an incredibly self honouring and self loving practice. 

3. Boundaries. With the above in mind, you get to choose to what degree a person/people are allowed to be a part of your life going forward. Love yourself enough to honour what feels safe and respectful for you.
